Anyone walking through the Festa do Peão de Barretos in 2026 will encounter the Mangalarga at different moments throughout the event. In parades, inside the arena, through experiences with the public and at an exclusive space dedicated to the breed, the horses have been drawing the attention of visitors across Parque do Peão.
Organized by the Brazilian Association of Mangalarga Horse Breeders, ABCCRM, the initiative expands the breed’s presence in Barretos and creates an opportunity to introduce the Mangalarga to thousands of people.
Up close, it becomes easier to understand some of the qualities that make the breed one of the great assets of Brazilian horse breeding.
According to Fernando Tardioli, president of ABCCRM, the breed’s presence at the event represents an important step forward. Following its participation in 2025, the Mangalarga returns to Barretos with an even stronger presence and greater connection with visitors.
A breed that also takes center stage in the arena
Throughout the event, the horses take part in parades across Parque do Peão and make appearances in the traditional Barretos arena, one of the most iconic settings in Brazilian country culture.
During the festival, horses and riders participate in several appearances and parades, bringing the Mangalarga before large crowds on the main rodeo nights.
“It is a great satisfaction for us at the association to give riders the opportunity to fulfill the dream of riding into the rodeo arena,” says Tardioli.
Jerônimo Luiz Muzeti, president of Os Independentes, the organization responsible for the Festa do Peão de Barretos, also celebrated the breed’s presence: “It is a pleasure to welcome the Mangalarga back to our arena.”
Mangalarga at the Ambassador’s Horseback Ride
On Tuesday, August 25, the Mangalarga will take part in the Ambassador’s Horseback Ride, which brings together around one thousand horses and riders through the streets of Barretos.
Among them will be a strong representation of the breed.
The connection with the ride becomes even more meaningful because Gusttavo Lima, ambassador of the Festa do Peão de Barretos, is also a Mangalarga breeder and a member of ABCCRM.
Barretos places the Mangalarga before thousands of people, many of them experiencing the breed for the first time. And it is up close that its qualities truly reveal themselves: its gait, docility, beauty and versatility, all characteristics of a truly Brazilian horse.
