Calidad Genética will hold the 7th Calidad Girolando Auction, Spring Edition, on October 22 at 7 p.m., offering 50 pregnant, genotyped A2/A2 F1 Girolando heifers. The auction will be broadcast on Remate Web and Rural Play and organized by Programa Leilões. The event represents an opportunity for dairy farmers seeking young females with selected genetics and strong milk production potential.

F1 Girolando heifers result from crossing Holstein and Dairy Gyr cattle, combining 50% of each breed. This genetic composition allows producers to benefit from hybrid vigor, bringing together milk production, fertility, and adaptability to tropical conditions. The cross is widely used in the development of commercial dairy herds throughout Brazil.

Genetics selected from the breeding stage

Sire selection is a key part of Calidad's breeding program. Holstein bulls featured in genetic evaluation catalogs such as SuperBulls are recognized for their estimated breeding values, which cover milk yield, milk solids, fertility, and longevity.

The breeding operation also uses reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), which allows selected donor females to produce more offspring. Genomic testing adds another level of information, using DNA markers to identify inherited traits and estimate an animal's genetic merit early in life.

The A2/A2 genotype is a major distinguishing feature of the offering. It indicates that the heifers carry two copies of the A2 variant of beta-casein and can pass this characteristic on to their offspring. This information is particularly valuable for producers focused on breeding cattle for A2 milk production.

An opportunity to strengthen dairy herds

With over 25 years of experience, Calidad, led by the Coelho Paiva family, maintains breeding programs for Montana, Girolando, and Crioulo cattle and horses. In dairy farming, its goal is to provide genetics that contribute to herd improvement through technical selection and advanced reproductive practices.

The auction's promotional campaign is developed by Rurally, an agency specializing in communication and marketing for agribusiness, responsible for Calidad's communication strategy for the event.

The 7th Calidad Girolando Auction, Spring Edition, takes place on Thursday, October 22, at 7 p.m., with live broadcasts on Remate Web and Rural Play. Interested buyers can review the auction catalog and animal videos in advance and complete their registration to participate.
